DIY Locker Chandelier DIY locker chandelier

This tutorial will teach you how to create a cute small chandelier with mirror pieces for your locker and how be cool at school! It’s also a great way to recycle, since you’ll need to use a cardboard.

What you need:

• Shoe box or anything made of cardboard (cereal box; frozen pizza box, etc.)
• Chandelier pattern
• Paint brush and paint (any colour you want to glare your chandelier)
• Jump ring
• Hot glue gun
• Mod Podge
• Glitter
• Mirror pieces in a variety of sizes
• Thread
• Scissors
• Chain
• Magnetic light

Step 1:

take the chandelier pattern and put it on the box you’ve prepared.

Trace the pattern, flip it over, trace again and cut the whole thing as one piece out.

In addition to the whole piece you’ll need to cut out each side individually one more time. So you’ll have three cardboard pieces in total.

Step 2:

paint the pieces.

Step 3:

take the jump ring. Make sure that it’s open and paint it the same colour as the chandelier pieces. Dry it out.

Step 4:

using the glue gun, place two small dots of glue to the top of the chandelier piece…

… and stick the jump ring. Dry it out.

Step 5:

add Mod Podge…

… and then the glitter to the chandelier pieces.

Repeat the procedure with all three chandelier pieces. Dry them out. Then flip the pieces over and repeat on the other side. Leave them to dry and, meanwhile, start making a string of mirrors which will hang from your mini chandelier.

Step 6:

Take the package of mirror pieces, thread and scissors.
Note: at this step you may create a chain with feathers or a string of some other stones.

Cut around nine inches of thread and, starting from about an inch from the end of the thread, pick the mirror piece of random size (or you can create some pattern), place the thread as close to the middle of the piece as possible…

…then take the second mirror piece, put the glue on it…

… and secure it on top of the first piece.

Step 7:

take another piece and repeat the process.

This is what it should look like. You’ll need to do four of these strings.

Step 8:

once the chandelier pieces are dry, you’re going to assemble them together.

Using glue, make a line right in the middle of the big chandelier piece from its top to bottom…

…and stick the side part to it. Once it dries it should stand on its own.

Step 9:

repeat the same on the other side of the big chandelier piece. Let it dry.

This is what it should look like.

Step 10:

put the mini chandelier on its side, take the string of mirror pieces and add it to the section indicated on the photo below.

To do that, you take the extra strain you’ve left earlier and place it down on the indicated spot. Then take a middle-sized mirror piece, spread glue on it and press the string thread down with it.

Step 11:

repeat on all four sides.

Step 12:

add a chain through the ring…

…and if you want it to cast the light for real, attach it to the magnetic light.

Enjoy your mini chandelier which will shed the light not only in your locker but also on your knowledge!
